To support high-quality education in Japanese erotic rope bondage (kinbaku/shibari/semenawa), CORE offers private tuition tailored to individual needs. These one-on-one sessions follow CORE’s established curriculum in semenawa (tormenting rope) and are ideal for those seeking personalized feedback and focused attention. They also provide opportunities to explore new material, accommodate scheduling conflicts with group classes, or simply learn in a private, confidential setting.

CORE teaches rope in the style developed by Akechi Kanna, the successor of Akechi Denki (明智 伝鬼). Kanna’s distinctive approach to semenawa - a deeply restrictive, breath-aware, and control-focused style - is influenced by the traditional martial art of hojōjutsu (捕縄術). Known as Kanna-ryū or Akechi-ryū, this approach emphasizes total control of the body and often incorporates breath control. Kanna-style remains one of the most influential and respected expressions of semenawa in contemporary kinbaku.

CORE is currently the only authorized school actively teaching this style in North America. Studying with CORE gives you direct, authentic access to Kanna’s techniques and vision. Cost

The cost of CORE’s private classes is CAD$100 per hour per instructor with a minimum of two (2) hours, for a pair or an individual. We can try to arrange a demo bottom for this class, should you need it. The additional cost for a demo bottom is CAD$50 per hour.

Location

Classes can happen at a variety of spaces dependent on suitability and teacher/student location. Private locations can be arranged upon availability. We can also recommend renting one of the community spaces in Ottawa (at the students expense).

Content

CORE’s private classes are designed to support skill development for both those who tie and those who get tied. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, including - but not limited to - the list below. Additional material is available upon request, and all content is tailored to meet the unique needs and skill levels of each student.

Please note: These classes are focused on education, they are not play sessions. While you may be interested in exploring rope for play purposes, CORE instructors do not currently offer paid private play sessions. The emphasis is always on learning, safety and technical growth.

Classes can be offered in English, French or Spanish.
