The Collective for Ottawa Rope Education (CORE) hopes to cultivate a passion for rope across Ottawa (Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦) by creating inclusive classes and gathering a diversity of members of different communities, genders, abilities, ages, socio-economics, and sexual orientations.
As of 2022, CORE is an official Akechi-ryū Kanna lineage (Kanna-ryū) school, teaching Nawashi Akechi Kanna style (semenawa). CORE is the only currently active school in North America authorized to teach the style.
CORE offers world-class classes on a semi-regular basis, usually two to four times a month, with occasional mini-intensives. Most classes are open to anyone who is already familiar with basic knots. Approximately every two to three months, CORE also offers an introductory class for people who are completely new to rope.
